Mission Statement

Headstart Montessori Pre-School is a model, multicultural community, dedicated to promoting quality Montessori education for children from age two to six.

It aims to lead and guide children into becoming integrated, independent, fully functioning young individuals who will be instrumental in the future of our country.

Our Vision

A great school rests on four pillars, cultivating in its pupils:

Headstart Montessori Pre-School were established over twenty years ago under the personal direction of Dr Lindsay van den Berg, a highly respected Montessori Teacher Trainer based in Namibia. The owner and Head of School for Headstart Pre-School in Fourways is Natalie Adão Gröss.  Dr. Lindsay and Natalie work closely together enriching the lives of the young children at Headstart Montessori as well as enriching the lives of adults through Headstart Mercy Montessori Training.

Headstart Montessori School is an institutional member of the Southern African Montessori Association. 

From birth to six, a child has, what Dr. Montessori termed, an absorbent mind.   Children absorb all aspects and impressions from the environment, therefore, if the child’s environment is abundant with opportunities to learn and grow, so the child will flourish and develop.

As Montessori Adults, we know that children learn more through sensorial experiences, that is by touching, seeing, smelling, tasting and exploring, rather than just by listening. We prepare a dynamic learning environment to encourage each child to reason, co-operate, collaborate, negotiate and understand. Our goal is the development of an independent individual competent in all areas of life.
